ASOVEN is promoting digital prescribing through its own BIM Object Library.
The Association of PVC Window Manufacturers (ASOVEN) is the organisation with the greatest presence and influence in Spain amongst PVC window manufacturers. Its mission is to champion and promote PVC windows as an essential solution for addressing the challenges facing the construction sector.
Its vision focuses on a more sustainable and efficient future, where PVC windows and doors are key to reducing environmental impact and improving comfort in buildings. To achieve this, the association guides its members according to strict values of ethics, sustainability, technical rigour and continuous training, fostering professionalism and collaboration throughout the value chain.
Based on this strategy and set of values, it is encouraging its members and the professional community to adopt digital tools that help optimise results in the installation, use and maintenance of PVC windows. To this end, they have launched the “ASOVEN BIM Library” project
BIM in the PVC window sector.
Building Information Modelling (abbreviated to BIM) is, by 2026, a well-established technology and methodology widely used in public and private projects in Spain and internationally.
In Spain, the well-known “National BIM Plan” stands out; this is legally implemented through Order PCM/818/2023 of 18 July, publishing the Agreement of the Council of Ministers of 27 June 2023, which approves the Plan for the Incorporation of BIM Methodology into public procurement by the General State Administration and its public bodies and public-law entities linked to or dependent on it. This measure requires public bodies to ensure that, from 1 October 2025, all construction projects exceeding €2,000,000.00 are carried out using BIM.
This measure creates a technical requirement in the market, meaning that projects must be developed using BIM; consequently, the product components used in these projects must be provided in BIM format, known as “BIM content or BIM objects”. That is why ASOVEN is taking the initiative to promote the use and adoption of this methodology amongst all its members.

ASOVEN BIM Library.
The ASOVEN BIM Library is the result of the BIM collaboration agreement between ASOVEN and BIMETICA, a BIM consultancy specialising in manufacturers of construction products and materials, with over 15 years’ experience in the international market.
The ASOVEN BIM Library currently comprises a range of 10 products, including PVC windows, window sills and doors. These products can be downloaded free of charge by professionals in Revit® and IFC formats. The BIM objects are generic; that is to say, they are not developed for a specific manufacturer’s brand, but are representative of their sector.
You can access the ASOVEN BIM Library on the ASOVEN website (Click Here), on the Bimetica.com platform (Click Here), or here.
Through this initiative, ASOVEN provides construction professionals with practical tools for their work. This results in both financial and time savings for professionals, as it simplifies their planning, design and specification processes. Professionals will no longer need to model BIM objects for PVC windows, sash windows and doors, but will instead be able to download them free of charge. Furthermore, should the ASOVEN BIM Library not contain a BIM-modelled product, professionals may contact ASOVEN via the Bimetica.com platform and request the modelling of the missing product, subject to approval by ASOVEN and BIMETICA.
Obtaining the BIM Library Quality Certificate
The GDO-BIM Standard BIM Library Certificate is only awarded to developments that meet objective quality criteria for BIM objects. These criteria are based on the usability of the file (balance between file size, graphical information and data), the standardisation of parameters, the traceability of data across the different phases, dimensions and LODs of a BIM project, respect for intellectual property rights (file copyright) and the principle of free and fair competition.
WHAT IS THE GDO-BIM STANDARD?
The GDO-BIM standard is a guide for the development of BIM libraries. The document has been drawn up by the company Bimetica with the aim of sharing the knowledge and experience gained from developing BIM libraries over the last 16 years in the domestic and international markets.
This document is free to use and freely available, and may be utilised by any manufacturing company as part of its BIM implementation strategy.
The aim set by Bimetica is to promote best practice in the market and increase the availability of high-quality BIM libraries from manufacturers, thereby combating the growing problem of piracy in the sector caused by some manufacturers offering low-quality BIM libraries or those that do not respect copyright.
