“Punto Implícate” is launched: a network of collection points for commercial packaging in the construction sector.

Madrid, Thursday 18 June 2026. IMPLICA, the Collective Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme (SCRAP) specialising in industrial and commercial packaging, has launched the “Punto Implícate” pilot project, a network of collection points designed to facilitate the proper management of commercial packaging waste generated in the construction sector.

The initiative has been developed in collaboration with SIKA, a manufacturer of chemical products for the construction and industrial sectors, and has the support of Grupo Veralia, a warehouse specialising in the distribution of all types of products and services related to the construction materials sector, which has made the facilities at its VERALIA PRO centre available as the venue for the launch of this pioneering project. Its aim is to provide a practical, free and accessible solution so that professionals and companies in the construction, refurbishment, installation and renovation sectors can dispose of packaging once the products it contains have been used up.

Under the slogan “Punto Implícate: bring your packaging, we’ll manage it”, the project aims to promote the recovery of materials, reduce the environmental impact of waste and contribute to compliance with current environmental regulations.

Key benefits of this initiative include facilitating the recycling and recovery of materials, reducing the need to travel to other collection points, improving the organisation and cleanliness of construction sites, and supporting businesses in moving towards more sustainable production and consumption models.

The collection points accept non-hazardous plastic packaging, paper and cardboard, as well as metal and plastic packaging contaminated by products such as paints, adhesives, sealants, varnishes or solvents, provided they are handed in empty, correctly separated by the different packaging materials, and placed in the designated containers for each type.

“Our aim is to bring the proper management of packaging waste closer to where it is generated. Initiatives such as this demonstrate that, through collaboration between companies and collective extended producer responsibility schemes, it is possible to transform environmental obligations into concrete actions that generate a positive and measurable impact,” said Laura Sanz de Siria, managing director of IMPLICA, at the project’s launch.

She also emphasised that the circular economy “is only possible when all stakeholders in the value chain collaborate; therefore, this project demonstrates that manufacturers, waste management companies and end-user firms can work together to develop solutions that deliver environmental and operational value to the sector”.

The managing director of IMPLICA emphasised how this project “brings recycling closer to construction sites and professionals, removing barriers and offering practical alternatives that contribute to meeting environmental obligations and improving the sustainability of the construction industry”.

The pilot initiative stems from Sika’s commitment to the proper management of waste from its product packaging once the products have been sold. As part of its sustainability strategy, “Beyond what you expect”, Sika’s efforts to minimise its environmental impacts are not limited solely to internal actions within its factories. Its commitment also extends throughout its entire value chain, right through to the end user: the professionals who use Sika’s products on their building sites. Consequently, direct collaboration with IMPLICA arose naturally from a shared interest in channelling packaging waste from the construction sector.

“We often receive enquiries from small businesses about how to manage Sika packaging correctly, and the ‘Punto Implícate’ will be able to meet the needs of professionals looking to manage the waste generated on their building sites,” notes Ana Arenas, Head of Product Management and Sustainability in Sika’s Technical Department.

“As manufacturers, we do not simply wish to emphasise the quality and performance of our solutions. We also consider their end-of-life stage, both in terms of the waste generated during the usage phase (packaging) and during the final dismantling phase,” explains Ana Arenas, “This has created an opportunity to collaborate with IMPLICA and the Veralia Group to promote a model of on-site practice that fosters the circular economy by facilitating the sorting of packaging waste at the ‘Punto Implícate’ collection point.”

To make it easier for professionals to access the collection point, Sika decided to partner with the Veralia Group to launch the “Punto Implícate: bring your packaging, we’ll manage it”.

Through this initiative, IMPLICA reinforces its commitment to the responsible management of industrial and commercial packaging and to the development of innovative projects that help accelerate the transition towards an increasingly circular economy.
