David Lloyd Clubroom in Boadilla: Saxun Sun Protection at the service of wellbeing
The design features an ambitious installation of Saxun louvres to regulate light and temperature, both indoors and outdoors. This combination creates a hybrid space where you can relax and enjoy yourself before or after training.
So-called third spaces are environments designed for socialising, relaxing and enjoying time together as a community. To achieve this, they need to be equipped with solutions that combine versatility, well-being and aesthetics.
An example of this is the new Clubroom at the David Lloyd Sports Centre, located in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid), a design that redefines the use of common areas thanks to the installation of sun protection solutions, in this case, from the prestigious national brand Saxun.
Conceived as a hybrid space that seamlessly connects the interior and exterior, the Clubroom is the most welcoming and social area of the sports centre, where users gather before or after their sporting activities. It is a place that required extra comfort and protection.
To achieve this experience, the project opted for an enveloping design based on Saxun Sun Protection solutions, which are the real stars of the space.
Fixed R4-300 louvers with a 45º angle have been installed around the entire perimeter of the sports centre’s entrance and reception area. Inside the hall, the design continues with fixed R4-200 louvers at a 90º angle, connecting with the exterior. In this case, the slats regulate the entry of natural light and provide a refined aesthetic to the entire space, from the hall to the connection with the terrace area.
In an ‘almost natural’ way, the latticework extends outwards, thanks to a composition of motorised R4-300 slats, which act as a large pergola, with adjustable slats, with autonomous control by zones for opening, tilting or closing, depending on the demand at the time.
A large structure that effectively protects users from the sun, light and other inclement weather, making the most of these outdoor areas of the terrace and leisure area. The finish of this large ‘pergola’ is completed with fixed R4-300 louvres, with a 45º tilt.
All the slats and metal structure are finished in RAL 7011 iron grey, which gives visual coherence to the whole, aligning with the identity of the David Lloyd Sports Centres chain and reinforcing the architectural continuity between interior and exterior. Saxun is characterised by its customised and tailor-made finishes, which are essential in high-end projects such as this one.
Designed by Juan’s Arvo Arquitectura studio, in collaboration with MBO Arquitectura, this project reflects how technical design and emotional well-being can go hand in hand, offering contract solutions that enhance the user experience.
