SIKA is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability by participating in the GBCe Circular Economy Roadmap
- The company is joining this key initiative as a sponsor, with the aim of transforming the construction sector’s business model
- Sika and GBCe have also renewed their sponsorship agreement as an XL Partner, marking over a decade of collaboration between the two organisations.
Madrid, 10 April 2026.– Sika will be one of the sponsors of the development process for the Circular Economy Roadmap led by the Green Building Council Spain (GBCE), a strategic project aimed at defining the actions needed to transform the construction sector towards a model that is more resource-efficient and aligned with the planet’s limits.
This initiative, involving some of the sector’s key players, seeks to establish a common framework to facilitate the transition from a linear to a circular model, reducing resource consumption and the environmental impact of the built environment.
“The Circular Economy Roadmap is a key project for redefining how we conceive of materials and processes in construction. Participating in this initiative allows us to actively contribute to a necessary shift in the model, in which resource efficiency, eco-design and circularity are fundamental pillars of the sector,” says Ana Arenas, Head of Sustainability at Sika.
Over a decade working together for sustainable construction
In addition to their participation in this project, Sika and GBCE have renewed their partnership agreement as an XL Partner, consolidating an alliance that has spanned more than ten years and aims to advance the decarbonisation of the construction sector and promote a more sustainable building model.
Through this agreement, the company will continue to actively participate in working groups, sector initiatives and actions that promote the reduction of the carbon footprint, the circular economy and the improvement of technical knowledge within the sector.
“At Sika, we have been supporting GBCE for over a decade because we share the same vision: to transform the construction sector towards a more sustainable and decarbonised model. This commitment is part of our DNA and is reflected in all our initiatives, from the development of innovative solutions to collaboration with key sector organisations such as GBCE that drive real change,” says Gonzalo Causin, Managing Director of Sika.
For her part, Dolores Huerta, Managing Director of GBCE, emphasises that “having Sika’s support for another year is excellent news for our association and for the entire sector. Their sustained commitment over time strengthens our ability to drive key initiatives and move forward, collaboratively, towards a more sustainable building model aligned with major environmental challenges”.
The collaboration between the two organisations comes at a time when the construction sector plays a key role in the green transition, being one of the largest consumers of resources globally. In this regard, both Sika and GBCE share the objective of accelerating the sector’s transformation through innovation, collaboration and the promotion of initiatives that help reduce the environmental impact of buildings throughout their entire life cycle.
