Sika is strengthening KLAVE, its technical support and project management model for the construction of buildings and infrastructure
- Sika provides a structured, comprehensive service that supports designers, engineering firms, developers, construction companies, architects and technical architects from the initial design stages through to implementation and maintenance throughout the project’s entire lifecycle.
- KLAVE is organised into various strategic specialisms, each tailored to meet the real needs of the market: within each specialism, the model is adapted whilst maintaining a single technical point of contact, specialist support and a comprehensive view of the project.
Madrid, 19 February 2026.- At a time when the construction sector is increasingly demanding greater specialisation, technical coordination and a holistic view of each project, Sika is consolidating KLAVE, its technical specification model, which provides comprehensive support for construction, industrial and infrastructure projects.
KLAVE (Knowledge, Leadership And Value Excellence) is the natural evolution of an approach that Sika has been developing for years, based on technical and specialist knowledge, close involvement with projects and ongoing collaboration with all stakeholders in the sector.
Sika provides a structured and comprehensive service that supports designers, engineering firms, developers, construction companies, architects and technical architects from the initial design phases through to execution and maintenance throughout the project’s entire lifecycle. To achieve this, KLAVE incorporates new digital tools, BIM methodology, life-cycle analysis and sustainability criteria that enable the environmental impact of solutions to be assessed from the project phase onwards.
“Today, KLAVE is evolving to address more complex, more demanding projects with greater technical and environmental responsibilities. It is a dynamic concept that adapts to each sector—Building Envelope, Industry and Infrastructure—to deliver real value to different projects, thereby reducing operational risks and helping managers make more efficient and sustainable decisions,” explains Sika.
As such, KLAVE is structured around various strategic specialisms that address the real needs of the market: in each of these, the model adapts, whilst maintaining a single technical point of contact, specialised support and a comprehensive view of the project.
KLAVE’s strengthened department comprises professionals with extensive experience within Sika, specialising in different areas of activity: Infrastructure (Diana Martín, KOM Water, Sewage & Ports, Alberto Fernández, KOM Power, and Sonia Cobos, KOM Rail & Roads), Building Envelope (Julia Gómez, KOM Hotel & Care, and Pere Rodríguez, KOM Real Estate) and Industry (Guillermo Sánchez, KOM Pharma & Transportation and KOM Car Park, and Luis Carlos González, KOM Food & Beverage).
In the field of Building Envelope, KLAVE acts as a key support in the design of the building envelope: façade, roof, insulation systems, sealing and waterproofing are addressed in an integrated manner, taking into account not only regulatory compliance but also energy performance, durability and future maintenance of residential and commercial buildings, primarily. “The building envelope is one of the critical aspects of a building. With KLAVE, we help specifiers make decisions based on actual performance and life cycle, not just on one-off solutions,” says Pere Rodriguez, KOM Real Estate for Building Envelope at Sika.
In the Industry sector, the model is geared towards projects with high functional demands. Technical flooring, special coatings and industrial waterproofing systems are defined according to the production process and the facility’s operational requirements. “This support is essential in industrial facilities, logistics centres and data centres, where reliability, operational continuity and ease of maintenance are key factors,” explains Guillermo Sánchez, KOM Pharma & Transportation and KOM Car Park.
In this regard, in both the residential and industrial sectors, KLAVE enables the anticipation of future needs, the minimisation of risks and the assurance that the chosen sustainable solutions comply with industry standards and specific regulations.
In Infrastructure, however, KLAVE establishes itself as a model of technical support geared towards long-term projects. Public works and major infrastructure projects (bridges, tunnels, roads or hydraulic structures) require solutions capable of meeting regulatory, structural and durability requirements for decades. This model provides expertise in special concretes, structural repair and reinforcement, concrete protection and waterproofing of complex structures, always from a life-cycle perspective.
In these large-scale projects, durability, safety and regulatory compliance are key factors. “Every technical decision has an impact for decades. KLAVE supports designers and public sector managers with proven solutions and a life-cycle perspective to ensure long-term performance,” highlights Sonia Cobos, KOM Rail & Roads.
Other areas where KLAVE is active include Retail and Warehouse and Logistics & Data Centres, with flagship projects in both shopping centres and data centres.
The KLAVE approach is applied across projects where technical specifications are crucial. “The innovation in this model lies not only in the technology, but in how we specify and support the project. That is where we truly create value,” conclude representatives from Sika.
